Just did a show at Cleveland Grays in Ohio!
And a guy brought in some bits of german from his dad!
Nobody in family wanted it!
I bought the items yesterday and today he brought in his uncles Japanese flags from the Islands!
I was real happy as nice navy have been so hard to find anymore!
The army meatball flag is signed and super condition and has the stamps!
Navy also!
Have not had kanji read but had to show!
They need better pics as I snapped a few at show!

Great stuff here a number of years ago I was doing a static display during Memorial Day and a guy brought in a lot of Imperial German stuff and a M35 helmet. He said it came from his grandfather and he just gave it to me.

I never knew the WW2 Japanese used Western style grommets and sewing/materials in any flags.
May I have permission to post this on another couple forums ?

I knew the posted flag was not period, and had seen it for sale elsewhere.

I have my doubts on other flag as well. All kanji looks like GI gibberish poorly written,by same hand.

Well it appears the meatball flag with kanji is what some call a souvenir flag! A real flag that was made up with writing for going home GI's after war! I don't read Japanese so its always a challenge! I would like to look into navy flag and find out! Thanks for everyones opinions! Thank goodness my luck with swords and such is better! If you don't take a chance sometimes you aren't playing! PVON

My Father fought in the Philippines and New Guinea. He told me they used iodine, one gallon cans and bed sheets to make up meatball flags for sale or trade with the Navy and other guys in the rear.
