I thought "lazy man" was a partial with only the name removed. Not 100% sure though.

You can just see how this happened. Three SS men were at the Gasthof and got up a good head of steam.

Fritz: You going to send your dagger in to be ground?
Willy: It costs RM 8.-
Johann: (unprintable)
Willy: The armorer has a grinding wheel we could do it ourselves
Fritz: And save 8 Marks
Johann: That's a lot of beer.

Fritz: Herr Ober!

To me, a "lazy man" is where the etch looks like it was done with a file or something similar, very roughly done, unlike a factory-ground" Rohm. A "name only" Rohm has only the name removed, with the remainder of the inscription present. Of course, a "full Rohm" has the entire etch intact. A "partial Rohm" shows remnants of the etch after the grinding takes place. Something to beware of is fake Rohm's and real daggers with fake Rohms added, or just regular daggers, which have had their reverses ground and sold as ground Rohm's. This is sometimes done with real daggers that have bad pitting or other damage on the reverse to dress them up and add the mystique of being a Rohm. Fake inscriptions are sometimes partially ground, leaving only parts of the etch that might appear more convincing than if the entire etch was left. The fakers are getting good at just about everything, but I feel a bit comforted with Eickhorn Rohm's with the trademark properly placed. Even those should be closely scrutinized.
