Rechnung 2175 is the purchase order for
SSZA No.1 in silver is "fur den Fuhrer"from
RFSS April 27th 1937.
A following memo confirms the " alte Nadel
1" is in Himmlers safe.
I have the new replacement No 1.
You must have the same file I have from
Berlin Docs Center some years ago.

Hi Seiler:

These are from the Berlin Document Records in the National Archives. This must explain why there are two No. 1 ZA pins. Attached is the Lieber/Gottlieb example.

Enjoy!

You could very well be right.
I have read the Berlin SSZA file (very skinny!)
Nowhere does the first the original show up after it is
consigned to the Himmler safe ?(Joe W has asked the same question)Mine came from the Hans Doring (sic) Estate (interesting story on his relationship with Adolf and how he had the pin )
The pin you show is IMO a copy.Definitely NOT Gahr
quality nor the engraving nor does it match the Gahr
pin in its apparent dimensions.Read the Meyer/Schild
Gahr book. The SSZA is well covered.
I had corresponded with Koblenz on the Himmler "Gifts"
Diary and their Ref # matches BDC (maybe copies?)
We should exchange info???You know my details.
Best Doug P.

The ZA files in National Archives have been known of/around for some years since Angolia wrote about them in the 1970s. But I profess ignorance that the #1 has been in someone's collection. How cool is that. And what is the Lieber/Gottlieb pin?

Doug, are you looking a source for the Himmler gift lists? They are in the National Archives. I had printed them out years ago and shared them with Pepera. He shared them with a local Cleveland collector and the next thing you know, he has found them and contributed them to Wittman's dagger/sword book.
