Not sure if he is a seller but either way stay away. He found this soldier's head in the helmet and a later photo shows the helmet taken away. Obvious grave robbing here!!! He lives in Aalborg, Denmark but not sure if this is where he detects.... People like this give most of the good metal detectors a bad name...

Looks like a peat bog area that preserves both paint on a equipment and flesh.

My guess a bog like area as well. Bogs preserve stuff well!

Last time I saw a head in a helmet was when I was 13 and saw a motorcycle rider get decapitated.
That was 42 years ago and I can still see it like it was yesterday.
On warrelics.eu they have a bit of the finding bodies. One is a crashed russian Hawker hurricane and the pilot was very well preserved.
Some nasty pics, but it`s done in a professional manner.

To me this one isn't done professionally. If it was the head would have been left in the helmet... It is amazing though how some got preserved so well after nearly 70 years since the end. I hope I never get to see someone decapitated. It would be an image in my head forever like you...

I don't know if it's against regulations or whatever but usually,,usually German soldiers were not buried with their helmets on. This is more than likely a battlefield find.

Graves even hurried were recorded before retreating. These men are the MIAs. IF this was done right everything gets washed off,the bones reassembled as good as possible and location marked on a gridded map with the dog tag info on it. There used to be an office that issued a small reward for the info IF done correctly..

Sometimes they hardly disturbed the bodies. Ground like this the uniform wasn't good, nor the soldbuch. They'd try and get off collar tabs, the dog tags, rings, buckle, medal/badge, helmet, knife etc.
Yeah from the photos this one doesn't look so 'professional'...

This was done on the Volkhov Front in Russia and it would be hard to find most of his bones anyway as he was probably found in a bog. Even then rather than taking this MIA's helmet, they should report it to either Germany's or Russia's government....

This is rather horrifying and hopefully this thread will not draw any unwanted criticism..this thread needs to be moderated closely.

Agree Larry, I was wondering if I was the only person with that thought.

We don't need any more of this. Probably need to redo the CoC to exclude human remains like this. Topic closed.
