Most fakes of this badge have a square head on the eagle and the back of the rifle is not dished out. I only know this from the research I have done on this maker.

Hello Dutchman

There are two variations of the Hobacher IAB.
The sheet metal hinge example that Rod shows and the block hinge variant.

Both have the "?" style catch directly soldered to the reverse and the obverse design are virtually identical on both.

Here is my block hinge example.

Fischer, that's it! In addition to the "flat" eagles's head that Rod alluded to, note also the pronounced "balls" on the eagles claws. Regards, Leipzig

Thanks for the heads up on the balls on the eagles claws Leipzig. Fischer, I read that the block hinge variant are hard to come by?

Hi Rod

Actually it has been my experience that the sheet metal hinge is not as prevalent as the block hinge.
