Paul,
What do I think? I think it's a winner, really looks like a nicely conditioned example as well. Do you know if the guy survived the war?

Wonder if it was this guy ( use Google translate ). States he was a Captain in a Transportkompanie from 1941-1945 and died in 1965. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Paul_AlthausLovely Horster, can we see a close up of the crossguard if you have one, from what I can see the fittings are pot metal, suggesting late war, what information do you have on his promotions etc?. Lovely condition.

Great inscription! Looks like a very correct Horster, except like Degen's says, it is hard to see eagle details..Kevin.
It's ALL in the DETAILS!!.......

Trsp.Kdtr. stands for Transport Kommandantur. Same name and date of birth. Wow, impressive. Althaus was well known as an artist in Bavaria. He served in both wars and was wounded six times. Nice catch, Best; Hermann

Paul, That's fine, typical later war Horster. The time-frame for production certainly ties in. This man, if it is the same guy has streets named after him in Munich and Munster. A family website exists ( http://www.peterpaulalthaus.de/ ) and also includes a picture ( Picture ).

I love this dagger Paul. No, $250 doesn't sound bad but in 1976, it was a piece of change.
