Hello ,
I have been having this portepee for a long time and I still don't know for what white weapon it has been designed .
Could any specialist help for this identification ??

This model knot is purported to be for the DRK EM hewer. Whether this knot ever existed pre-1945 or what it's purpose was is often the topic of dispute since I don't believe there is any period documentation of such a connection. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

Jean,

This knot appears to be of postwar construction. The blue felt insert is common in postwar knots, particularly of this style. Pry apart the vertical twisted cords on the ball and you will probably find new looking white thread wrapping.

Orpo , Billy ,
thank you very much for your comments .
So in conclusion : not only this portepee might be a postwar production ,but also this protepee might be a fantasy model that has never existed . Am I right ??
Could additional people add some info ??

Billy , Orpo ,
I received from Tom Wittmann the confirmation that this troddel is for the red cross hewer. It is a Johnson re-make . So post war reproduction.
According to Tom ,he has never seen such troddel that was original. According to him , these troddels must have been produced very late in the period and perhaps never been distributed .
So , all this confirm your previous messages .
I hope this can help other owner of such trodels .
