I want to show you a very nice dagger with edged blade in the Voos Style, its the Voos etching without Makermark, exactly as it shows in Thomas Whittmanns book about Army Daggers. Etching is very clear and deep on this Nickel Plated Blade.
Pictures are not the best but the dagger is! ;-)
opinions welcome..
Greetings

Rieny:
That dagger looks fantastic.
Is that an ivory grip? It doesn't look cracked or striated at all.

No, the grip is made of Trolon. No Ivory i wish it where made of ivory but you cant have everything. I think it looks a little bit like Ivory because the Pictures are made with flashlight, its Standard Trolon Grip....

Very nice and collectible dagger with all accoutrements. Congratulations! I remember having seen only one unmarked dagger (with VOOS-type etching) with a true ivory grip. I think this dagger here has the common yellow grip coming "normally" with these kind of blades. Regards,

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules with regard to the fittings that Voos etched daggers come with, though the norm is that non maker marked ones will come with a trolon grip and the maker marked ones will have an ivory grip, as with all TR daggers variations do exist, I'm sure I've seen a period list somewhere that actually states the prices for extra luxuries like an ivory grip, around 10 DM at the time, I can't remember where I saw it, anyone give this ageing memory a nudge?

@Nolan: This is the price in the period EICKHORN list. The ivory grip alone did cost nearly as much as a whole "normal" gripped dagger. Regards,

Real ivory grips are an option. They can be seen on any Army, 2nd. Luft, or Navy and some have unmarked blades. Most Voos marked etched blade types will have ivory grips but they don't have to.

I really love the etching background on this specimen - totally original and unpolished. Very nice to see.

That is beautiful. Too bad something like that is most likely out of my current price range.
