I heed one with better German translation skills than me :-)
It reads "Iherem hochverehrten Chef die Gen. Batt. 167 Weinachten 1941"
What is Gen. Batt.?? Grenadier Battalion? Batterie or?

Pantograph engraved - Volksgrenadier IMO is way too late. With what I see being: "Gen. Battr. 167" and "Gen." usually for a General such as General Staff (etc.) And the "Battr." a battery which is normally a much lower level unit. So I think that you may need an Order of Battle specialist because I'm not seeing the connection. Best Regards, Fred
