Hello,
Just find this trio! I don't know if these were really used to fight... Really nice knife. The black leather hanger is a post war addition.
Opinion welcome

Nice knives not often seen, in my opinion they are hunting knives and were not used for fighting.
thanks for showing

Yes, a type of hunting knife with a single edged blade could be used as a hunting knife. But these type knifes shown, Mein Lebensretter DRGM and Nahkmpfer made by Anton Wingen JR. Fabrik Feiner Stahlwarren Solingen were carried by German troops in WWI, with plenty of in wear pictures to prove it. Both single and double edged knifes as well as the Bowie styled blades with antler grips in this hunter style were carried and in uniform, some with portepee. Thanks.

Anton Wingen Jr. (Mein Lebensretter) registered 1915. Source: page 569, German Knife and Sword Makers, 1850-1945 by J. Anthony Carter.
I have seen 3 verisions of the Mein Lebensretter.
The 1st version shown in the 1915 Anton Wingen Jr. catalog title: "Stilets, Beste Kriegs. und Verteidigungswaffe, fur Soldaten" (Daggers, Best Wars. and Defensive Weapons, for Soldiers) shows a soldier holding a knife over another fallen soldier, over Mein Lebensretter, D R G M.
The 2nd version has flags with the Bavarian motto "In Treue Fest" over Mein Lebensretter D R G M.
The 3rd simple version only has "Mein Lebensretter" over D R G M.
Chevalier2022 has posted the image of the 1915 Anton Wingen catalog page, reposted here. I have acquired the 1st version as shown in the 1915 catalog with brown leather sheath with black metal fitting on the bottom.
Maybe, the non-rotting, metal sheath was used later as a result of the static trench warfare.
