I'm reading the book of wittmann about ss blades, it's fantastic.
How many ehrendegen was attributed to officier ? When I see my (repro) dienstaltersliste, many officiers don't have ehrendegen

Yes, BAMA. Actually, it is not an officer knot, but was worn by officers and NCO's alike on SS and police degens (if they were SS members). You sometimes see other SS portepees and troddels on these degens for unknown reasons. Perhaps for frugality, perhaps for tradition or maybe that's what was handy, or a supply problem.

Agree with Grumpy; most period in-wear pictures show the "SS -officer" portepee tied on the EM degen, but with exceptions - as Grumpy comments.
