Greetings to all!
Many months I was just a reader.
But couple days ago I picked up my new fireman's bayonet with a little bit unusual frog on it. The frog looks authentic. But I'm beginner so please, I'd like to hear more opinions about it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks completely period to me. It differs from many other patent leather frogs, primarily due to manufacturers' variants.

Your frog is OK kopterus. I have one with the same distinctive V stitching near the belt loop as on yours. Mine is also unmarked. An interesting variation for the KS98 style Extra-Seitengewehr.

Thanks for chiming in Orpo. I have a few of these too & like the added stitching. Besides being distinctive, I think it helps the overall strength & integrity of the frog. We see enough of the plainer frogs that didn't hold up so well under the rigors of supporting a heavy seitengewehr.

At first glance, the rivets appear to be replacements which always casts doubt on the grip plates being original to the piece. This also leads me to what appears to be a slightly "off" fit of the grips. These were not always perfectly contoured to the hilt, especially later in the production period but were usually fairly similar. Just curious, are the grips loose at all?
Other than the rivets/grips, the piece appears to be an unmarked Eickhorn product in nice condition. A. Ziegler, Giangen is a distributor usually seen on Eick produced bayonets.

The fit of the grips looks little bit strange for me too, but I never seen grip replacements with metal rivets before . I saw just with aluminum or brass parts. So, I bought the dagger.
Any way, the handle looks solid without any loose at all.
