Could one of the members that owns a real TK ring box provide the measurements in millimeters please. I would actually need that information within five hours of posting. Sorry for the short notice, but the measurements aren't provided for in CG's book. Thank you very much in advance.

sorry Mikee,,I don't have one... Crazy,,but most private purchase ring collectors don't even have a HR!

Maybe contact Don [or Craig] and see if they have the measurements on file..

Craig, Don, JR and whomever has knowledge of HR ring boxes. I know Don doesn't post here, but he might see it and answer.

From Craig's book "The SS Totenkopf Ring", we know that four types of HR ring boxes have been identified, so far? Of the four, the type four box has a wider diameter. What the book might or might not suggest, is that the other type one, two and three boxes are of the same measurement. Is this a safe assessment?

M. , I only remember that at least 2 were the same exact size,,one with the 'rope' design around edge and another type.

-there are very good reproduction HR boxes. I don't think many were made but there was one that was dam good a few years ago. [don't know who had it or what became of it]

G,
I fully understand the reasons why some individuals with hold information when it involves TK rings and boxes. So I appreciate you sharing that information. Would anyone venture a guess on how many TK boxes have been found to date?

Gaspare, I think this number is too low. I do have towards 20 boxes (mostly these with and without rope design) in my files. I do assume that some of them have only changed the owner so there will be left about 15. And I am aware of several only in my private collector sourroundings which never have made their pic into the net/forums so I would assume at least 100 or more beeing in collections.

,,good man wotan!

Don B. has been studying the HR for many years., he did keep some files,,but I think at one point he lost them and then never started keeping files again.[?].

I have files on PP rings but nothing on the HR. With just your info I agree with you on your number...

Wotan, Very few have such vast knowledge in the things we collect then you. Thank you.
From the boxes you have on file. How many have the lid that seat half way down and how many seat all the way down to the base? And of the rope design, don't they all seat half way? Thanks again.

I know of one or two TK ring's in German collections that have never been shown.

We know their must be more rings and boxes. But according to "records kept" their are a little over two hundred TK rings known and approximately 15-20 TK boxes. Is this a fair statement?

Thank you for your kind words. But mainly I am a "dagger man" grin and rings and TK rings and all around is "only" an interesting side branch.

Mikee, you are totally right. In my files there are now towards 260 rings out of the net and the said 20 boxes.
As I am at least aware of 10 rings in my sourroundings that never made it into the net the sum of rings in collections should be much more than the 260 out of the net.

It is difficult to define the boxes like you wished because of the angle of photographs (some are photographed straight from above and I cannot judge the lid seam) but from what I see I would guess 2/3 have the seat half way down to 1/3 all the way down. Or even 3/4 to 1/4. And yes, the rope design boxes I have in my files all have the seat half way.

Regards,
