Hi,
I have this Bahnschutz Bayonet from the area of Posen, Poland. It is a typical police bayonet with no military inspection marks. Does anyone have any other railway bayonets or other Police bayonets for the K98 to show? Thanks

Hmmm. I can see where the K date S code markings have been removed from the ricasso of this bayonet on the reverse side of the blade. So, not a commercial bayonet but one that started out life as a standard military bayonet before the maker markings an date were scrubbed. I would look carefully at the places where a WaA would have been to see if they have been removed as well.

No WaA Markings were ever present on the pommel. The scabbard tip is also not marked. I believe it could have started out as a bayonet meant for the military, but never left the factory enroute to military stocks. This blade was most likely scrubbed of the K- CODE at the factory and went the route of the commercial market. You could see in the pics that no WaA Inspection marks were ever on the pommel.
