Gentlemen,

Would appreciate your expertise regarding this Japanese bayonet. I've identified it as a first model Type 30 - Arisaka, in fairly good condition, marked with a Nagoya Arsenal stamp. It looks as though the wooden grip was used to hammer something at some point and has some resulting depressions. No rusted areas and the scabbard retains most of its blueing. I know these aren't a "high-dollar" item but I'd be curious to the fair market value of the one that's pictured.

Thanks and good collecting!

Hello Bill, Geoff here.

Nice piece, shame about the hammer factor usually caused by the vet to drive a nail into the wall to hang it from. however, still would be fair from 75-100 Bluing is still great. Nice original example.

Best wishes.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for taking time to answer my question. I advised the gent who owns it about the same, and that he should try to pass it down to a deserving relative who might have an interest in collecting military items.

Your confirmation is most appreciated. wink

Best regards!

Bill
