I have a German Luftwaffe WW2 sword. It is made of Damascus steel: sword, sheath. The handle appears to be black ebony? It is not made of leather. Any ideas of what this is exactly or worth? I will try to add more photos as I get them resized. Thanks for the input!

What size is it?...it appears to be smaller than the normal sword and may be a salesman's/manufacturer's example for prospective buyers.

Thanks for the photos.
Is there a maker on the blade?
Any markings on the tang?

There is no maker on the blade or any other markings that I can see. I haven't taken the handle apart for fear that I'll break it somehow or won't be able to get it back together properly. John

I'd like to move this forum to the sword forum instead of the welcome area but I don't know how to do that. Anyone know how? Thanks, John

Only moderators can move posts. This will be interesting because it does look convincing if it is a fake. Hopefully it isn't and it is a new variation or something.... Welcome as well....

The sword was made in India. I hope you know this...There is a Importer who sets up at the MAX and the SOS who sells them. Regards: James

And if there were any lingering doubts about what James said - I think that a quick check of the workmanship (like the gaps/flaws in the scabbard rings, the "Sunwheel" etc. etc. should put the matter to rest fairly quickly. Regards, Fred
