You guys all know that I collect Eickhorns.

Well, I also collect Eickhorn M=maker mark variations on SAs and NSKKs (to me the two are the same...the blade is the same, the TMs used interchange, only the scabbard is different).

I will start with my more rare SAs.

First up is this tiger striped small double oval no CE TMed presentation SA.

The presentation translates into something like `To my dear comrade Weiss for your loyal co-ooperation. Oberlander.`

And, this is my SA Rohm.

No gau mark, with the small double oval serrated tail no CE TM.

I will stop for now and then restart with my regular plain jane SAs and NSkks.

You kind of wonder why they had so many logos ? One theory was that Eickhorn used many different suppliers and applied different trademarks for it, who knows what's the story.

Pat,

That is the theory behind the seated squirrel with or without Original on the transitionals... the one without may have been made by a subcontractor.

I don't know.

John,

I'm not sure about subcontractors. It is a reason sometimes quoted for unexplained differences.

I think it is just poor trademark control by the largest TR dagger maker. Look at the SA's close relative the SS dagger and you have all of the varieties you mention plus several more including one really strange one - the "rat" - transitional.

Please allow me to add one extra Eickhorn mark: the single oval CE, which is the earliest to be found on SA's I believe.

Right on picture below.

Best regards,

Pat,

The one you posted (small serrated, double oval) is in my opinion the most common mark for Eickhorn Röhm SA's.

Here are a few with the same common mark:

Best regards,

The one you posted (small serrated, double oval) is in my opinion the most common mark for Eickhorn Röhm SA's.

Thank you, Herman.

I knew that the single oval exists on a HJ, but not on an SA.

I now have to add it to my list of wanted items.

If anyone knows of one out there and thinks that it would be happy in the Great White and Wet North, let me know.
