Paratrooper in Chalk 1944
Not sure where to post this so it is not in the correct section please move. I got this chalk drawing of this Paratrooper which was drawn by "B. Bushhardt Heubach 1944". The drawing with the frame is 18"x23" and just the drawing is 14.5" by 10". I have never seen such a quality of a drawing that was WWII related before. My pictures do this drawing not the justice it deserves. Does anybody recognize the Artist? Any and all comments are welcome. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you, JME

A first-class charcoal or pastel portrait of a Luftwaffe, Fallschirmjäger NCO. It may also be graphite or pencil? The artist must have had professional training or else been a "natural," considering the quality of the work. The facial detail and fine shading is exceptional.

Difficult to ascertain if the signature reads; "B. Burkhardt Heubach," or, "B. Burkhardt", from Heubach? However, I'm fairly sure it is Burkhardt.

Either way I couldn't find anything related to a specific, noted artist. This absolutely doesn't take anything away from the quality of the artwork, there were thousands of "unknown artists" in the ranks throughout the Wehrmacht. In my honest opinion you're very lucky to have added this wonderful Fallschirmjäger portrait to your collection.

:), I also did a search along those lines. No Luck. I too feel that it is probably referring to Heubach as a place name. Perhaps B. Burkhardt is the airman and not the artist?

VERY HIGH QUALITY. Anything on the back and is it sealed?

That's a very nicely done piece of art. Imo from other art work that I've seen, it's more than likely the name of the artist. If it were the name of the individual, I believe the rank would've been added.

The frame came apart in transport and ripped the back over. I had the class cleaned and put a new cover on the back. I was not able to see the back of the drawing and do not believe there was anything on it since the guy who did the work did not talk about it. So all of it is original except for the back cover. I believe that B. Burkhardt was the Artist and did the drawing in the town of Heubach in 1944.
