Does anyone has an explanation why some Rhm daggers are found without any "gau" mark?

In the post hereunder an Aesculap SA is shown without "gau" stamp.

And hereunder I will post a Pack SA ground Rhm and a Eickhorn SA partial Rhm, which also lack the"gau" marking.

I also would be interested to see more of these.

Best regards,

Herman

One explanation I've heard is that they were "presented" and therefore missed the normal channels of distribution.

I have a Full Rohm Eickhorn (of course), with no Gau markings.

Thank you for posting that wonderful Eickhorn SA full Rhm of yours in the topic, John!

The same thing seems to have happened to SS Rhm daggers: here is an SS "name only Rhm" by Eickhorn, it does not have a Roman number stamped on the guard eather...

Anyone else has a theory that might explain this?

Best regards,

Herman

A theory that has been previously advanced, (I cannot remember where/or by whom), is that SA/SS group stamps do not occur on the Roehm honour daggers distributed/presented outside of the SA/SS group structures; e.g., qualifying members of Roehm's/Himmler's respective staff were not attached to a territorial group formation and so their daggers would not be distributed/presented via the group structures, hence no group stamp on the crossguards.
I can also offer the following period source of a presentation to Dr Hans Frank, the NSDAP's leading jurist in 1934 and head of the German legal profession. German Law (1934), page 43 is cited in "Might is Right" (1939) page 175 by Friedrich Roetter ( an emigre German lawyer): ".....Dr. Frank, leader of the German legal profession, was one of the recipients of these daggers on which was engraved in Roehm's handwriting - in hearty comradeship Ernst Rohm...."
