Wanted to share a great little grouping I picked up from the family of Wesley Bemis. A 4th marine division vet who saw service on Iwo Jima from the start on Feb 19th 1945 through March 16th 1945. A demolitions specialist and basic engineer. The grouping consists of his 4th marine division book – photographs – and documents to include his original marine discharge. The highlight of the grouping is a tire remnant cut off a Japanese zero while he was in Iwo Jima!

Tom

Thats a very nice little group and getting harder to find
as time goes on!

Outstanding piece of history to get anything from this important era and historical importance!

Just looking at these young boys thrust into a very bad time and loss of life on Iwo Jima makes it special!

You are now the caretaker of this piece of history!

Sadly there is no Nazi symbol so many won't care!

But he was one of ours and I care!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for posting...
We lost two family members on Iwo Jima - both of the 5th Marine Division.
One was an artillery man (If you have ever seen the 1945 USMC film entitled "Gyrene Gal", you've seen my cousin.
The other was a Navy Corpsman assigned to the 5th Marines.

This isn't really pertinent to this thread, but I wanted to correct my earlier comment. The name of the movie
referenced above is actually "Glamour Gal". It's a 15 minute USMC made film and can be seen here:
