Greetings!
I haven’t posted on this forum for a few years although I visit from time to time. My main interest on this forum has always been items relating to Hermann Göring so I am delighted to bring this unique item to your attention.
There is a very rare J.A. Henckels commemorative knife for sale at Probus Auctions, the top militaria auction house in Sweden. The knife was given by Hermann Göring to his Swedish brother-in-law and close friend, Count Eric von Rosen. As you probably know, Hermann was married to Carin, the sister of the Count’s wife. You may also know that the Count gave Hermann the elaborate hunting dagger that is now displayed at West Point’s museum.
As to the knife, it commemorates the hunt that Hermann and the Count did in Schorfheide Forest during the deer rut of 1937. Both of their signatures are engraved on the scabbard and the translated inscription indicates they killed 4 deer and 1 fox with 5 bullets.
The knife and scabbard are in pristine condition and they are housed in their original presentation case. These come directly from a descendant of the Count so their provenance is impeccable. You can see the complete description with more photos at
http://www.probusauktioner.se/auktion/ob...20april%202013. The auction is April 22 and if you decide to contact Probus, they are probably fluent in English like most Swedes.
