Is it true that German Fire dress bayonets (and other dress bayonets) had no serial numbers and therefore you cannot determine that a certain bayonet and a scabbard belong together ? I want to buy one and asked about the serials matching and I got this answer. Here is the link.. http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/verzamelen/m...sPage=mympBuyerThe asking price is 96 euro`s. Is it worth the money ? Any help is much appreciated.

Jacco You are right in most cases. A few Fire Dress bayonets had inventory numbers stamped on the cross-guard and scabbard, or blade and scabbard. In a rare case the pommel and frog. Shown below are a couple examples.

I agree with Terry, a decent conditioned short model bayonet with nice maker & distributor dual marks, $125 is fine to pay.
