Please help identify etching on force. Good or bad? And who is the manufacturer? Thank you.

Not a "specialist" but...

the trademark looks like "Grasoli".

May be a trade name for Carl Mertens.

A quick search indicates that Grasoli is/was a utensil/scissors mfgr. Don't know anything about the full scope of their wartime efforts.

Roger is right, my edition of Fisher's lists Grasoli is a trade name for C. Mertens although there's no additional info on what they made in the way of edged weapons.

The etch is a known Holler template shown on Wayne Techet's book, page 174. Holler was a large producer of etched bayonets & according to Wayne, provided etched items to Alcoso, E&F Horster, Artur Everetz, PD Luneschloss, Paul Seilheimer & Richard Abr. Herder. Mertens was a small, cottage producer IMHO so it's entirely possible they bought the blade from Holler on a customer's order. First time I've seen a Grasoli blade that was etched, thanks for showing it.

You guys are right, I misread the TM. Since I was way off I deleted my post. Good thing we have some EXPERTS on this forum. It's still a scarce TM.

Grasoli is listed in my version of Fisher as a trademark used by Gebr Grah KG, Odysseuswerk, Grasoliwerk.

Now, it is interesting as well that there is no such maker listed in Wayne's book, German Etched Dress Bayonets.

But, Holler is well known as a supplier of their etch patterns to all kinds of large and small manufacturere.

I like this etch and, along with the rare maker mark, it is a great find.

Re: Grasoli

Last night looked in Carter's "Trademarks"; he also lists Grasoli as a trade name for Gebr Grah during the war.

Yesterday, when I responded, I had come across a reference that indicated the C.Mertens-Grasoli connection.

It appears that some time after the war, the Grasoli tradename "transferred" from Grah to Mertens.

Anyways, really nice etched bayonet.
