Looks like an original rat squirrel marking to me.

Looks good. On page 182 in Mr. Thomas Whittman's book 'Exploring The Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS' it shows a close up of this transitional MM. This one looks identical to the photo in the book.

There is no complete dagger. It is just the blade. I will try to get some complete pictures of it and post them.
