Hi, could anyone tell me if any different makers used a different style of font on the blades?? I have seen an SS officers chained dagger, with no maker mark on blade which is correct to that dagger, but when comparing it to other SS dagger blades the font is smaller than on other daggers I have seen.
Is it possible that this one could be a one off, or used by one paticular maker?? any info would be welcome. Thanks

There are many minor differences in the motto on the front of the blade. Thing that would not be noticed 3 feet away.
There is just one SS dagger, made by Louis Perlmann - Louper trademark - that has noticeably smaller font. Same motto, just smaller. It is owned by a UK collector and I have never seen it. Those who have are about equally divided between skeptics and believers. It is an M1933 and has a trademark on the back.
If you could get a picture, that would be good.

Dave,I saw that Louper dagger about 35 years back. The motto font stands out, it is considerably smaller than "standard" fonts. This SS dagger came into a dealer's shop in Islington, London, while I was there. There was a bunch of other daggers with it in a tea chest sized box so me and the dealer sorted through them. I thought long and hard about the Louper,it was in low exc. condition and I knew it had to be rare, but cash was tight so I opted for a minty untouched SS M33 by Henckels and left the Louper. One of life's mistakes.
As you say, - the SS by Louper remains in a premier UK collection to this day. Still a good dagger, imho.

@Dave, is this guy with the Louper also a member here on gdc? @Barry, which Henckels do you own? 15/38 or 15/39. The Henckels are nice too  Gerd

Here's pics of the 2. fonts on the blades. The smaller different type font is on the chained dagger and has no makers marks on it. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. If this is a one off maker that used the font, does this make it rarer and more valubale??. Cheers

Cannot "identify" it but at least it is obviously the wrong way round applied at the blade.

Interesting that the font is exactly the same as that found on early SA "Christmas" daggers.

I am fortunate to still have one of these "Christmas" early SA daggers. It is most interesting to know the history of them. I understand that only 200 of them were made and given personally by Earnst Rohm to his best buddies.

Mine is a E P & S and Eickhorn and Pack were the only makers. Mine has no benchmark.
No Gau mark either.
