This is one of the nicest SS Presentation Gold Engraved PP's you will ever see. Serial number (215372) is right in the middle of a solid block of FACTORY engraved presentation guns, including a gold engraved to Himmler (215335), a gold engraved to Albert Speers (215361), and a gold engraved to Herman Goring (215366). This one comes with the usual ivory grips and a deep quality chiseled engraving that is easily seen in the photos. Even the grip screws are engraved. These presentation SS pistols are not the typical engraved quality, they are the highest quality chiseled engraving. Although the identity of the original owner of this pistol hasn't yet been identified, research is now ongoing to obtain this information. A true collectors prize.

Absolutely, positively incredible, this has to be the most beautiful Walther I've ever seen. I didn't know they made such a deluxe version on a semi-regular basis, this is a heart-stopper no matter who the original owner was. I hope you're successful at finding out his name, that'd surely be the icing on the cake.

Please keep us apprised of any further info regarding the original owner. This was most certainly owned or presented to a senior member of the NSDAP.

What a thrill just looking at these pictures and wondering about the history behind it. Thanks for posting them and best of luck on the research.

Here is another, although this one has been de-nazified and is worse for the wear. Look closely and you can still see traces of the gold finish. The only clue to the original owner is the initials on the grip strap - CE.
Carl Eickhorn?? - yeah, right! Wouldn't you love to know what the inscription on that missing presentation plate said?
This one walked into the OGCA show in Columbus in July 1978.

The missing grip dedication plate borders on being a sin. The person who removed it more than likely just threw it away.

The 'C/E' certainly makes the mind wander.

Still a very substantial memorable specimen.

Here is the story:
At the OGCA show, I had left my table to be looked after by a close friend so I could look around. When I returned, my friend was the proud owner of this pistol. He said the guy came up to the table and was trying to find a holster to fit the pistol amongst many I had for sale. My friend saw what he had and cut the deal. That was 1978 and he still owns it.
Had I kept my butt at the table, it would have been mine. Oh well, such is life! At least it went to a good guy...

Forgot to mention that the magazine is gold plated also. My guess would be that the fingertip extension was added at some later point.

I would agree with you Denny. The cased presentation models, like the one you pictured undoubtedly was, were fitted with an similarly engraved flat base mag bottom with the extra magazine having the one plastic extension like this Sauckel presentation.

Really appreciate your sharing these fine Walthers with us, the design and craftsmanship is really something to behold. What a joy it'd be to have one of these exquisite pistols lying on a cloth in front of you, giving it a thorough going-over with a good magnifying glass ... nice!

In the late 50s or early 60s in TRUE (the mans magazine) this type of engraved PP was pictured .The article stated the piece belonged Adolf Hitler??? The gun was in the U.S. The owner wasn't identified. Gary

The AH pistol of which you speak surfaced from a vet in the Cleveland area in the late 60's or early 70's. It ended up in the collection of an advanced collector in Saskatchewan. When he passed away and his estate was liquidated, the pistol went back to Germany.
The only part I know for a fact is that it was in Andy's possession in Sk. The rest is hearsay and welcome anyone else to verify or refute this info.
This same pistol was pictured in Jim Rankin's Vol. 2 book. He also stated that it had blood under the grips which was tested and was the same type as Hitler's. He was implying that this was the pistol with which AH committed suicide. That part is baloney IMHO.

Wasn't their a TV show called True? I think I remember watching it.
