Hi all, I'm a newbe to this forum and so far it's been really cool.

I came in possession of 2 German helmets.....one a M-35 and the other is a M-42. Both are original helmets.....possible re-painted and the decals were definitely put on by someone because they are off center. The liner metal on the M-35 is dated 1939 with the #55 stamped on the leather. The M-42 leather liner is stamped with the number #55...the metal portion of the liner looks like is says: DRP???? The helmet is stamped CK164 over the # 2719. The M-35 is stamped ET 64 with the number 4261. Also, the liners are strung together with shoe laces. I will post some pics and I hope you guys out there can give me a good estimate on what the Helemets and liners are worth. Thanks all. PAT.

From the bottom shots - it appears these are Norwegian reworks which have subsequently been repainted and decalled with really bad repros. No collector value as is so they could be used for parts or possibly reconditioned but having been messed with the value is never going to be too great.

Thanks for the info on the helmets being reworks. But what would be a fair price for these helmets if want to sell them. Also, since there is no collector value to worry about.......would the leather liners be worth anything separately? Then what would the steel helemets be worth separately. Thanks. PAT.

Tough to answer. I would not remove the liners but if you do be careful not to destroy the split pins. The liners could be worth about $100 to 125.00 each. The red dye would have to be removed to use in a re-worked helmet to simulate one in original condition. The shells could be worth $125 to 175.00. That is only my opinion. You could remove the fake decals and list on ebay just to see what they would bring. In the end they are only worth what a willing buyer is willing to pay. If you know any reenactors they might be a better guide.
Cheers,
Mike

Yep, norwegian redos.Did you get these helmets off of ProxiBid or LiveAuctioneer auction?
THese are worth nothing to any TR collector, and any re-enactor would not bother either...Leather liners worthless to TR collectors, shells maybe after way to much work removing crap paint... then you would have a two tone, interior would be the tan, outside be all tore up.
