I picked this loose scabbard up this year and just thought I would ask here if this was a good number ? only three digits. the scabbard is still very nice but I never seen one with such small numbers before, and one is stamped on the front and the other on the back side.

looks like 059 or 058 , and strange placement, 1 on each side of the scabbard. did they ever do this?

Once in a great while you will find stamped numbers on an SS scabbard that are not serial numbers. They could be accountability numbers of some sort, but I don't know.
Yours might have been stamped before assembly as there is no dimpling of the surrounding metal that often happens when thin nickel silver is stamped without a solid backstop.
