Hey all, I have had my G43 for about 10 years now and I have been toying with selling it. It is all matching and I would say that it is near mint. Blue is all original and I would rate it at about 95%. It does have one drawback, the stock is a barracks cut but it is serial numbered to the gun so I have made no effort to replace it. It is currently glued back together. I have never shot it. What I am asking is, can anyone give me an idea of what I should ask for my G43 given its condition? Pics to be added.

Hi Mark,
A Gustloff made G43 like yours is scarcer and more desirable than the more commonly seen Berlin Lübecker or Walther rifles. It's hard to tell from your pictures if the rifle is refinished or not. Some pics look like it is reblued and others do not. Don't worry about the duffel cut.
If the blueing is original and the stock hasn't been sanded or refinished, (I'm pretty sure it's OK on both counts) your rifle should bring $2,500 easily and probably closer to $3k.
Nice Rifle!

Hi Denny, thanks for the "intel". Blueing is all legit...flash and shadow may have caused the "re-blue" appearance. Stock has not been messed with other than glued back to gether at the duffel cut. again, thanks.

Mark

wow very nice rifle. I have always wanted one myself. It's on my list but my list never gets smaller. My first rifle was a *** 7.7 when I was 12 years old. I would keep it for sure myself.

Steve,

I always find it humorous that it is politically incorrect to utter the word "***" in the context of WWII when American newspaper headlines and radio broadcasts of the period used it regularly.
Silly!

You are correct, Denny, that WWII period newspapers, magazines, and newsreels used various terms to describe the Japanese that are considered insults today. The same applies to terms applied to the Germans and Italians.

If you read the media of the day, you will see that there are also names used for US religions and minorities, and some of our allies that are also insults. The same applies to names used by the British and the French to describe their allies and enemies.

Here we are over 60 years later and many of our WWII allies and former enemies are members of GDC and these terms are not acceptable here.

Dave

Isn't it also interesting that the word "Kraut" is not automatically deleted by the "big brother" GDC software. Where is the level playing field? I'm certain that many Germans do not like hearing themselves referred to by a word that was commonly used during WWII.

Denny, I see your point. My previous post on the police Luger, I had to use the word armory instead of the primary word that meant the same thing. It just goes to show you that there were 57 people on GD today and 400+ on WA at the same time.

Mark my sincerest appologies for venting a bit on your post. I've been edited twice in the last couple of days and never had it happen in the past, and I would like to say you have a very beautiful rifle. Those that don't have one and want one are green with envy, and I'm one of those. Again, my appologies, sincerly, Steven.

Hey Steven, no worries at all...go ahead and vent. Truth is, I have a really low tolerance for political correctness...say what you feel. I would think that for the most part we are all of the same "cloth" on this forum...we collect stuff that is in no way considered "right" by the gerneral poblic. Some would rather just see it destroyed. I don't know about any of you folks but I have been judged on my collection several times...even showed up in a performance report. "its my hobby, not my politics"...see, I can get on a "soap box" too...=). Happy collecting all.

Nice rifle.

Re: political correctness- generally, the people that matter don't care and the people that care don't matter.

Very, very nice rifle. The price in my area would be a little higher $3500 to $4000. Do not replace the stock even though it is duffle bag cut. See the g43.com forum for much more information. They also have a For Sale section where you can monitor current prices. The gunbroker.com site usually has 2 to 3 listed for another idea on prices.
