IMO, looks like the blade was polished down(some little pits still visible) and this acid etched post war. This type of faking is seen on common K-98 bayonets with SS inscriptions in an attempt to increase value.

First you would have to find someone who wants a buffed HJ knife with a fake inscription.

If the scabbard is nice, and the diamond and grips are intact, should be worth $200-250. If not too deep, it may be possible to buff the fake inscription off..
