A local seller has this sword but has included "a SS Jr. EM troddel" with it since that is the way it came.

Blade is in V.G to Excl shape.

What should I look for in the port?

He wants about 80% of dealer prices with the port. If the port is right.

Is this an EM SS port??

Also the blade is NOT maker marked at all.

The knot is an SS NCO Troddel for a bayonet. The picture is not good enough to tell if it is an original or not. They have been reproduced but you should look closely at the ball. Spread the vertical cords apart to look at the interior of the knot. It should be wood and wrapped in waste thread. If the thread is new looking it is a fake. It is also missing the slide on the strap.

It is hard to say about the troddel, but it looks good, from the limited views. They are not "regulation" on swords, but are occasionally found that way, apparently on "unmessed with" pieces. The sword is an NCO example. You didn't say, but you might wish to examine the pommel cap to see if there are SS runes cast into it. If so, it would add considerably to the sword's value.

Yes, it does have the SS in the pommel.

what kind of ballpark "street value" are we looking at?

I see some of big guys have these up around 12-1600ish

Will the fact is an UNMARKED BLADE hurt it much?

The "SS" in the pommel is crudely done, apparently by hand. It is not one of the recognized factory SS pommels. Therefore, adding little, if any, to the value. There is no way of knowing when the runes were applied. The overall condition of the sword is paramount to determining value. It would take extremely clear photos to make an evaluation. A "hands-on" evaluation is best. The troddel, if real, would add to the value.
