Hi guys,
I was setting up at a gun show when I came upon this bayonet rig. The only marking on the reverse side of the frog consists of a crown over the letter "M". Imperial Navy?? Here are some pics.

Len, you've been showing some impressive pieces lately - thanks!
Does the reverse side of the blade have the Rich A. Herder logo? Some, but not all, Eisengiesserei und Schlossfabrik bayonets were produced with blades supplied by Herder. Also, what is the date on the spine?
The Imperial Marine frog and portepee just make this already impressive & rare bayonet that much better. Anyone would be thrilled to have this one in their collection.
BTW, great photography...

Hi Denny,
Thanks for your kind comments. The bayonet hasn't any Herder markings and the date is "16".

Best regards,
Len

Len,

A nice rig! As Denny says, an Imperial Navy frog with a nice Imperial or Weimar Republic period NCO knot. This knot would be correct for some Navy NCOs as well as the Army.

The C/M frog would be a perfect match for my Imperial Naval unit marked 84/98 saw back.
