I have seen a head like this somewhere but I cannot place it. Is it military in nature or pehaps a Diety of somekind,Thanks for any help.

I don't think it's a specific historic character of any kind, nothing comes to mind..? As for being a deity I'd say no, too. However, it's certainly a wonderful example of decorative carving and a great piece of furniture.
