It seems to me very badly done.
Although the engraved name is German. (Not necessarily German)
Maybe WW2 trophy?

Not a great engraving job... definitely not jeweller or factory done.
With these kinds of items, it is impossible to know whether this engraving was done in the period or yesterday. Without some great provenance, how do you prove that it is authentic to the period?
