COLLEAGUE RON WEINAND SAYS THIS INTERESTING, QUALITY MODEL WAS AN EXTRA-SEITENGEWEHR FOR OFFICERS. AND OFTEN WORSE A CYPHER ON THE GRIP (THIS ONE SHOWS NO SIGNS OF SUCH.)

WAS IT PRE-WWI, WWI AND WEIMAR? ANS AM I RIGHT IN THINKING POSSIBLY FOR PIONEERS? THANKS.

Interesting mark, never seen that exact one before, I'm thinking Imperial. I have a dual marked PSS bayonet, maker marked Gebruder Hartkopf & distributor marked Walter & Co., Mulhausen like this one. Scabbard frog lug is definitely pre-WWII.

This exact mark is shown in Fisher and stated as the source being a bayonet.

There is no other detail provided.

Ron is right that it is a private purchase Extra-Seitengewehr by Move-Werke. A very nice example of one with the original black paint finish. I would say it is definitely WWI period. Walter made quite a few odd variations for private sales during the war. Some had blades with central fullers and Herder supplied blade blanks to them during the war as well. Some of their S84/98 bayonets are similar to Mehlich examples.
