Here are pictures of my Aesculap SA Dagger. This is one of my first daggers I bought when I started collecting. It is obviously a victim of some polishing which I am not a big fan of. It is group marked Sw for Sudwest and is in overall good condition. The blade does show some good crossgraining and does have some greying. These daggers were made in the town of Tuttlingen about 260 miles from Solingen. This company is still in business today making surgical instruments and equipment and is well known worldwide in the medical field.

Rich, My first SA bought "back in the day" is an Aesculap too! The fit and finish is great on these and hard to beat. Mine was all nicotine stained and I cleaned it up...rooky mistake!! It is still nice though..as is yours! I agree with Siegfried, someone cleaned the varnish off the grip. Tempting to so many because it is hard to find them with the varnish in good shape. Congrats! Kevin.

Thank you Larry and Kevin,
I agree with the both of you. I like to leave these things be, I don't clean anything unless it's "modern dirt", the patina I don't touch. I know it will eventually come back however I'll be long gone. I've had this about 12 years and it looks like the day I bought it. If my memory serves me correctly I believe I paid $350.00 for it, and when I saw the shine I thought wow, great shape, my rooky mistake. Here are a few pictures of some other SA's I have in different stages of patination and nicotine. Wusthof ground Rohm, Kober and the Aesculap.

Thanks again

Rich
