Pat....
Beautiful new table, and of course, EXQUISITE collection, but....PLEASE tell me that you're not gonna smoke cigars in there, among those tunics, Waffenrocks and visor caps?.....Frown

Cheers,
Bob.

Hello Gents,

I'm presently away from home, vacationing in beautiful Bavaria Wink and I appreciate all of the positive comments.
Bob: you're right and I don't think that I should be smoking my Habana in my bunker.

Patrice: One small note on your table: I had one of these and, over a long period of time, the back of one of my displayed dagger blades became spotted by the cloth underlay. SO, I would check and wipe off the blades on a regular basis
Since that experience, no cloth or foam in contact with my blades.

You have to be careful with wood and Oak in partucular. It emits tannin in small quantities over time and this can be corrosive. Any of the wood pieces I have that house daggers, firearms etc. are sealed on the inside and usually lined.

Thank you Ron and Jim for your advice.
I will check them out on a regular basis and will clean my blades with a clean cloth on a regular basis. Wink

Absolutely fantastic Pat. I can't wait to see your collection in person.

I like your idea of framing the daggers with nice insignia and putting them on the wall. Big Grin

Super collection and a fantastic early ss leader sword.Early Krebs swords are much rarer than unmarked ss swords.I am sure a one day you will spend the sword a nice portepee. When you are in Bavaria again, let me know.I will show you in my town many castles and great empire collections here. And at last my little collection, with a good wine Big Grin

I spent two years in beautiful Regensburg back in my military days of 1960.

So beautiful, so historical and so much to see but so much wasted time by an immature, young GI.

My friends and myself swam across that river to get a case of bier for our party. That bier is worth the best SA dagger!!!

Pat thanks for sharing.

John,

I've been to Germany many times and I have to admit that aside from Berlin, Regensburg is my favorite city.
I just really love the place and they are presently renovating all of the old town with its vivid colors.
I'm certain that you would enjoy seeing the "new" Regensburg, just awesome.

When I was young, I also would have done anything for couple of beers, haaaaaa. Big Grin

One of my favorite places in Germany is the medieval town of Rothenburg. Their museun of ancient torture devices is worth the visit itself. I had a couple of biers with the Night Watchman(pictured below) after his tour of this beautiful village.

Thanks for the compliment my friend.

My wife was actually pretty happy that I was able to hide my collection in the basement. Wink

Unfortunately, it is now too small and I will have to enlarge my bunker to make room for my collection. Smile

And I thought that it was big enought just a year ago. Roll Eyes

Er Patrice my friend:
Putting the pedal to the metal at that point would probably NOT be a real good idea!!
On the other hand I hope you lifted a couple with two of the nicest guys in the hobby.

It's always a treat to visit Patrice and his lovely wife Lyne.

That day, Stephane also joined us and we enjoyed Patrice's down home hospitality.

But if the truth be told, I only went to see his collection. Big Grin

Having had the privilege of seeing Pat's collection in person, I must in all honesty say that it is even more impressive in person.

It is a world class collection by a world class guy. Wink

Oh, BTW, Pat is the only guy to drive my GTX other than me. Cool

Pat,

How did you secure those daggers and scabbards in those shadow boxes?
Can you please post a close up picture?

Thanks,
