Hey guys
Today i picked up this untouched RAD hewer.
The blade is near mint and the rest is heavy 'nicotine' patina.
What would you do? Clean or not?

Hello Stingray,
I think when it comes to nicotine it boils down to personal preference as it's not really patina. I have a Red Cross Leader that I posted not too long ago with a lot of nicotine and I left it as is. You already have some pristine Pack Rads, so it's nice to have a little salt in the collection. Just my opinion. Nice Krebs thou.

I would leave this one alone. Krebs fittings have a frosted look and, if you clean it, they will not look like the original finish that would come on a Krebs. JMO.

Ivan,

I would leave it as is. The nicotine patination is fairly even & gives the piece a lot of character. Add to that what Ron said about losing the frosting underneath, yes, resist the urge to clean it up.

I agree with leaving it as is. No one will mistake it for a reproduction...

Thanks guys
You're right, I'll leave it to the new owner to decide, as it will be soon for sale.
