Hi Will

WWI 2nd type 98/08 with a prussian NCO knot. It would be good to get more photos because the knot seems to ne too new. I think it was added later or it is a fake.

regards
Alain

Hi Will,

What sort of knot is that? It looks sort of like a Prussian NCO, but they have a different stem and slide with a pattern. I've never seen one with a solid color slide and stem and I didn't see this combo in my books(?).

Will,

I didn't realize the stem was missing fabric, I thought it was white. Haven't seen one with a black slide, maybe it's replaced(?). Just out of curiosity, are the tassels all the same color, or are they grey ones in the middle?

Hi Tim , yes prussian nco , the stem is bare wood , covering lost to time sadly , the only explanation to the solid coloured slider is this sentance iv'e pulled from another site "versions worn by Kapitulanen (re-enlisted), which are very scarce, do denote this by means of a colored slider. ". not sure whether or not this is the case but they were talking about the same knot I have on my bayo , any further info would be great,
Regards
Will.

Hi Will,

That's interesting about the slide. Are the tassels all white, or are there grey ones in the center that match the ball like in Alain's picture from the other post? ("Butcher that knot!!!" second row, second from the right)

Oops, you just posted more pics while I was writing smile The construction and material look good, but I'd expect to see grey in the tassel. Maybe just a variation or peacetime vs wartime knot, or private purchase or something. I have a few typical examples that all have matching slides and stems and grey in the center of the tassels.

Yes i thought it odd not to have the center tassles coloured ,odd configuration , if you get a few mins it would be good to see your examples,

Here's a couple pics of a typical wartime example. It would've been interesting to see what was on the stem of yours originally.
