The serious question whether or not manufacturing marking, no M36 SS Daggers used to have.

My first impression is it is a complete fake. The three pictures are enough to tell me not to buy it.

I do not like the shape of the connectng links to the clover leaf, also the dagger looks very worn but still has black patination on the links. The grip eagle looks like pot metal. To many red flags for me.

This is not a dagger you want.
The link holes are the wrong shape, the top connectors are wrong. That's enough to pass on this one.

Robert if you think CG needs to be contacted about a dagger he has on his site, then contact him.The forum members are not always 100% correct. When people ask for opinions they sometimes get answers to look at items more closely.Daggers need to be look at completely and judge as a whole.I don't like the look of the clover link, might be OK but I stll don't like it.Now you have a comment I hope you can sleep now.P.S You left out the link we were talking about on your first picture.I guess we all make mistakes.

I was just alerted to this thread today. The chain on the subject dagger, as well as the chain on my website, are definitely fake. I would be glad to post additional close-ups of "our" fake chain for research purposes here, but the dagger, which had been purchased at SOS 2011, was pulled from my inventory months ago, and sent to a fellow dagger expert for a second opinion. As memory serves me, it had a chain that said dealer identified as having been produced in the 1960s. We are supposed to receive the dagger back at SOS this year, at which time I was going to try to get my money back from the person from whom it was purchased (luckily, we have a record). It had not been deleted from our website, but should have been. Had someone ordered it, we would have realized it was still on the site, and would have removed it. I'm glad it stayed up so it could be documented here.

The easiest way to tell on this type of chain, by the way, is the clip (where it connects to the clover-leaf) as well as a couple of horizontal "tick marks" that seem to appear on the surface of all of the SS runic links. Look closely and you will see that tick on both examples.
