A friend has located what is described as a luftwaffe buckle with a knife blade attached. I haven't seen it, but he is trying to get photos. It seems some time ago I read all such buckle-knives are "fantasies" and are postwar put-together items. Is this true, or do such authentic items exist? Thanks for any reply.

Grumpy. According to my buckle book Belt Buckles and Brocades of the Third Reich by John Angolia these buckles were all fantasy items. Rod

Thanks, Rod. That was my understanding. We've probably saved my friend some substantial cash.
