I found this PET DAN KREBS bayonet years ago in my grandfather's tool box, hid it away for years and just now found it again. I did some research on it but didnt find too much. Id like to know more about it and the company that made it. Also I cant seem to find the same version of the marking on the blade....all I have seen are a more standard shaped shield and some have words and others don't but I have not found the wavy shield. Also who would have been issued this bayonet?

Cory...Its a long model standard dress bayonet. They came in your length and a shorter model. Any military branch carried them. They are a common item to find today because there were lots made.Krebs used two or three makers marks. Dont know of hand which one this was (early or later).

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. And remember the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Nice TM... has anyone seen one of these before?

Here are the two marks by PDK that I have. This one is very different in the shape of the shield. Looks like a very early mark to me.

Yes those two are the two I always see upon searching which is what made me curious about the one I have.

Additionally, these bayonets were not issued; rather, they were private purchase items, often sold through military accoutrement outlets.
