One thing I don't like is the detailing on the crossguard, particularly the corners of the swaz.

Believe this is a genuine early N/S piece, although the fittings appear to have been heavily buffed. Ernst Erich Witte is a known maker of RLB's.

Im with Billy on this one. Definition of the 'floating' swaz is very poor, not a typical trait of Witte pieces:

I think the poor detail on the swaz is due to buffing as previously stated. It seems original, but heavily cleaned.
We see this on the blade too.

Also, it appears that the scabbard was re-leathered.

Definitely a restored piece at best.
