With the exception of the one transitional dagger, all the makers have already been mentioned, just not tied to the correct eagle.

No more guesses ? There are not that many early SS daggers and if you tabulate the above misses, you have to hit sooner or later.
I am surprised, as with the runes thread, that so few of the advanced collectors/dealers have not ventured an opinion.

Two hits, Andrew. Not bad at all.
In the next day or two I will put up all the answers. I hope that by now members will be seeing that there are more than just 3-4 variations and that the SS daggers cannot be accepted or rejected by the type of grip eagle they have.
Regards to all Dave

The ones with their name in red were identified by Members. The ones in Blue I filled in. Many thanks to all who participated.
What I will do in a day or two is remove all the posts that were made trying to ID the eagles. You are welcome to add your own SS eagles after I have done that.
As with the thread about SS rune buttons, I hope this convinces you that:
1. There are more variations of eagles than is usually thought. Close up photography really helps point this out.
2. That you should never reject an SS dagger because of the eagle details.
Regards, Dave

I am curious. Does anyone know of the manufacturer(s) of the grip eagles of these SS daggers? Does anyone have an original apart from the grip, and is it marked/RZM'd ? I search my Assmann catalog copy and could find no example of this peculiar eagle. It is not a party eagle per se. Thank for any info. I posted this on WAF but the response was limited. Collectors indicated only two manufacturers: Assmann M1/17 and C.T. Dicke M1/47. Any photos of catalogs or the eagles themselves? Thanks.

Joe,
Good question. Most are still in the grip so impossible to tell. I'll search my images to see if I have a 'dismounted' one, but I don't remember one.

Joe,
Yes, they were marked. The RZM symbol on one wing ans the M1/xx on the other. Detail on the back varied a little.

Red.
They were made of nickle silver or alpaca ... which contained no silver.
But, if "your bud" needs an eagle then beware as the substitution will be obvious
