I have been asked what is the best way to have an expensive dagger sent from Germany to the USA.

Can anyone with experience give guidance ?

Many thanks

No DHL which is what the Germans will use, I would kill UPS, and go with Fed-Ex. Key word is expensive.

I have found that the safest and cheapest method to ship is to use the government postal services from Western and Northern Europe (NOT from the former East Bloc of Soviet Republics) and from the UK and from North America. Stealing from the postal services is a pretty serious crime in these countries. Stealing from a courier is just a game to most people, employees or contractors.

But, under declare the value... a high valuation is like a bulls eye target for thieves everywhere.

I hate UPS... they are highway robbers.

Be carefull of ANY Courier Service. Many,if not all, have a
ban on edged weapons.Make certain to get the all clear first.

I just use the UK Post Office service shipping daggers to
the US.Air Mail registered. Also Insurance because the
service cover is useless and peanuts.Of course as John Z
points out,it can be a red flag for theft which is more common
than you will believe.
Good luck.
