This dagger was sold on a European auction for just over 925 euros (aprox. $ 1200). So I guess there must be something wrong with it. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Judging by the scratch on top of the spanner nut, that someone was not successful in opening it,, or it was never meant to be opened. I have witnessed myself a flea market dealer do the same thing to a fake Govt dagger. almost the same style scratch.

Look at the scabbard pebbling closely. Instead of being uniform, there is a "swirl" effect or design to the pebbling. That is the "swirl pattern." Originals, including army and similar scabbards, do not exhibit this, at least not to the degree seen on this one. The noticeable "swirl pattern" is seen on some, but not all, post-war scabbards.

I would have expected more red flags than only the crossguard and the pebling on the scabbard. Does this mean this dagger has original parts as well?
