There is an ongoing discussion about those hangers what they do look like concerning gilding. Due to a contemporary add these hangers DID exist. I have seen several kinds of gilding but cannot tell whats the right one. Personally i would tend to think that it resembles the gilding on original water custom hangers.
I think you cannot tell "what do they cost nowadays" because I am not aware of any original ones beeing offered anywhere.
It has to be emphasized that 99,9% of once offered "gilded army general hangers" are "simlple" army officer hangers with its aged protection laquer having become a golden hue and are nothing more than wishful thinking.
A pic perhaps would help.

At least it looks like true gilding and not darkened laquer. Nevertheless these pics are much to small and much to few detailed to do any serious statement.
Also concerning these very hot terrain it should be examined in hand by an experienced collector especially testing the gilding (aceton test on a hidden part) and close examination of the stitching.

To do a statement about such a difficult case (which general hangers are in general) just from pics is not easy. But I see some signs I like very much and personally I think these hangers have a true big potential to be the right thing.
But there is nothing about an in hand inspection by an experienced collector.
