I was offered this full Rohm SA dagger over the weekend, having never owned one I'm not really sure what to look for. What concerned me was that the lower crossguard curve didn't mate up against the wood very well(some gapping) and the grip may have been replaced. Here are some pics I took, not the best but that's all I have, hopefully someone can say one way or the other if it's good or bad. Thanks for looking. MAZZ

I looked at the etch with my 10 power loop and it looked to be acid etched and not a laser etch, but it could be an old repro. MAZZ

Mazz look at the Reddick copy in the thread started by Ron Wienand recently the trade mark on that looks like yours could be useful for comparison

Is it me or is the learning curve on these items getting worse instead of better??? Maybe it's because no one wants to buy a book or really read what's out there on these daggers. Seems they just want to be led around like little children and not lean anything on their own. This is getting to be like "Antiques Roadshow." Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping other collectors, but for God sake, go back and read old post and learn. It's the same examples over and over again.

Gailen, just as with what's wrong with society today, no one wants to make a stand or is confident in their own ability or opinion. They want some one else to give them the stamp of approval. Let the government or some other "expert" tell me the answer and assume the risk. NO self confidence or the need to learn what the real answer is. JMO, Ron Weinand

I do get several e.mails a year just asking me for my opinion on a specific Rohm inscription. Most of those e.mails are coming from Eastern Europe and are not regular contributors on GDC. Guess what ? I do not give my opinion 90% of the time. I certainly do not want to be a " free appraiser" for fake Rohms. The perfect fake Rohm is still light years away and I think that they are actually becoming even worst than before. Go figured !

On that last one, you did not even have to look at the dedication. The trademark was way too far from the crossguard.

I do have a very good reference library and had I though the piece was legit I would have bought it when I saw it, I had my doubts and I just wanted them confirmed, 2 heads are better than one! As a footnote this is the same dagger that is listed in the above thread, the Rohm currently listed on GB, except my pictures aren't taken at odd angles to fool anyone. MAZZ
