I recieved this dagger from a P-38 pilot who was sent to Germany after the war to repatriate Luftwaffe pilots for the new German airforce. he spoke fluent German and worked with them for a year. While there, he was offered many personal items from these pilots like medals, daggers, guns, etc in exchange for food and ciggarettes. After a long Airforce career and a ten year stint as an Air America pilot in Vietnam, he retired. I met him before he died in 1996 and he gave me access to his large collection which I eventually recieved.
One of these daggers was an SA dagger that looked almost new and had a phenolic resin handle instead of wood. he insisted it was genuine, albeit made after the war of original parts. I have had several people tell me that the parts, except the handle, are in fact original. I will post some better pics , but my question is...is this credible ?

If it has anything but a wood grip, it is postwar and of little value. The trademark is most likely B&A in the form of a cross. Sorry to bring bad news,
Dave

Thats OK. I wasn't worried about it being worth anything because of the handle.
One dog out of a large collection is OK.

Thanks

It would still be interesting to see it if you can post some pics. It would be a learning experience. Larry

Those B&A daggers have become worth a few dollars in their own right in the last few years. Charles

Should I try to just sell/trade the parts or should it be kept together. Can you tell by the pictures I posted if the parts are real as some blade 'experts have said, or are they all reproductions made after the war?
