Hi. I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a few German Daggers, maybe 16 or so and I dont know a lot about them as they were past on to me 30 years plus ago and have been in storage ever since. I wanted to try and get any information I can about them and an estimated value of each if you guys dont mind? The photos came out darker than I wanted but I can take better shots if needed. Any all help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Starting from left to right I will list the makers as its hard to see in these photos. 1) Gebr. Heller Nr. 9743 2) RZM M7/36 3) Paul Weversberg & co., Solinger 4) Clenen & Jung, Solinger 5) Wedi Solingen

I can tell you that number two (RZM M7/36 with Himmler dedication) is a poor fake. Eickhorn is the only producer of Himmler daggers and never with an RZM mark.

Paul:
In this hobby, paranoia is a survival trait.
I recall the 'Lord' something or other.. always had some interesting fakes for us to look at.

And, maybe, the Heer and the Luft2.
The others are really strange.

Yes, it was from a family member. I dont know the daggers by name........can you tell me the number so I can place the names with the photos please? Also if theres obvious things that point to them being replicas I would like to know as well. I read the replica posts here and I dont see the same kinda problems with Daggers 1-5 as I have seen in photos of here. Thank you for the help.

What exactly is wrong with dagger 01? Everything! Ouch! Well it seems to me that the only 'period original' daggers you have there is the Army #7, and the Luftwaffe #8. The Luftwaffe (airforce) dagger has some condition issues so under $1,000 for the pair. The rest are fakes circa 1968 to 1976 IMHO. it's the time period we saw the majority of the Plumacher maker marks on these repros. I believe the company was bought in the late 60's for the exclusive and unrestricted use of fake (post-war) dagger blade production and the misc parts. The labor leader looks like it also has a Plumacher blade so I would put that one as a fake too. Although Plumacher was indeed a legit blade co. during the 3rd Reich. -Serge-

I have to say most of these daggers are high end repros, and if they were all real you would probably have enough money to buy a small castle with land!!!(just one of them would buy you a nice fast new car). I think the family member you got them from must have been collecting repros for some reason, i find it highly unlikely that they didnt know that most of these daggers wernt real.

Here are a couple of pics of a high end repo I own. It is unclear as to where these were made but they have been around since the 60s. Jim

John I agree that these daggers can be original, in fact it seems to me, but I distrust the rest ...

Mr. Atwood was having stuff like this made in the late 50s & 1960s OUT OF GERMANY. early spanish made items were actually high end quality also. NOT saying this is a fake, could be from parts too. I've got to of the honor types one SS ,other SA. handles are plastic but, the rest is nice quality. over the years there has been other rare or one of a kind items that surfaced ....JUST ME , but have doubts that some of them are actually pre -45. jeff

I have owned this dagger for many years. It seems to me and, this has been confirmed by others who have handled it, that perhaps some of the parts are pre-1945. However the blade and case are clearly of post war construction. Maybe I'll bring it to the MAX or SOS next year. it still makes a neat display and I don't mind people handling it which is something I probably wouldn't do with a period example. Jim

Wow, he got these 30+ years ago or so. I didn't know that they gave this junk away that early when you managed to hit bull's eye in the shooting parlour at the fairground :-). He's grandpa must have had a fair and steady shot !

I agree most are fake. The design of the "oak leaf" cross guards is wrong, as is the pebbling of the leather. The "damascus" or damascus blades have the incorrect pattern. This is just for starters. There are other indications here and there I won't go into. I agree the army and luftwaffe daggers appear to be original. I wouldn't get too depressed about these. You can probably get $100, maybe several hundred, apiece for some of them from the right buyer. I wouldn't advertise them all at once, especially the ones that are alike or similar. Be sure to note they are reproductions, but are of good quality. Some collectors may be looking for "fillers" for their collections, some may just want a display piece or two. Find a good online auction (not eBay!) that sells militaria.

Just imagining getting a heritage like that that is all period...
